Ongoing research into advance technologies will allow new methods of corrosion monitoring and imaging where traditional calipers techniques and imaging devises have limited success. Studies carried out by independent bodies show that due to
the increased cost in exploration and the requirements to extract hydrocarbons from difficult geophysical structures technology can form the backbone to cost reduction and offer reduced impact on the environment, OMT have focused on such areas and have a road map of technology that will in part support the aims of the producers.
